H.F.E Courses

H.F.E and Massotheraphy School is licensed with the Texas Dept of licensing and regulation. The program opened in 1984. In 1985, when legislation in Texas passed massage therapy as a Law. The program become a licensed training program. In 1999, the name change to become a school based program

I. PROGRAM OUTLINE AND COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course requirements are as follows:



COURSE DESCRIPTION

PRINCIPLES AND MASSAGE TECHNIQUES – 200 HOURS

Students learn to give and receive a full body Swedish massage. Class format includes theory and history of massage, demonstration of techniques, supervised practice, and personal development and guided relaxation techniques. The emphasis is on becoming comfortable with touching. (All areas in the state curriculum outline are covered.)

ANATOMY – 50 HOURS AND PHYSIOLOGY 25 HOURS = 75 HOURS

In Anatomy Students become familiar with the structure of the human body, scientific thought and medical terminology. Emphasis is on the musculoskeletal system specifically taught for the body worker.

PHYSIOLOGY – 25 HOURS

In Physiology Students explore the “functions of the” vital systems for the human body. The classes are oriented to appreciate the relationship between the science of the body systems and the healing art of massage.

KINESIOLOGY – 50 HOURS

“Students will learn about and study the movement of muscles and joints of the human skeleton, terms related to kinesiology, joints in detail, movement, major muscles, including origins and insertion points. Position End Proprioception”

PATHOLOGY – 40 HOURS

“The students learn the definition of human pathology, terms related to pathology, disease and infection, indications and contradictions, disease condition and disorders, psychological and emotional states and basic pharmacology as it relates to human pathology.”

HYDROTHERAPY – 20 HOURS

“The student learns basic hydrotherapy principles, uses of hot and cold, the various baths, dry brushing and salt glows.”

HUMAN HEALTH AND HYGIENE – 20 HOURS

“The students will study and recognize methods of sanitation, including disease prevention as applied to massage therapy. A person health plan is created to assist the student in optimal wellness. In learning these skills, the student also learns to assist others with their wellness.“

BUSINESS PRACTICE AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS - 45 HOURS.

“Principles related to the business of massage therapy is explained” Students learn How to set goals, prioritizing, time management, Marketing Skills and ethical standard for massage therapy.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM – 50 HOURS(40 Hours hands on and 10 Hours Clinic)

“The student will have “HANDS ON” experience functioning as a massage therapist. The student will make client appointments, interview clients, perform massage therapy and review the client’s evaluation with the massage therapy instructor, and perform other such tasks that are necessary to the business of providing massage therapy.”
